JOB SUMMARY
SLONEC is recruiting on behalf of a reputable procurement-focused organization that prefers to remain anonymous. The firm is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to support and strengthen its sourcing, vendor management, and supply chain processes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating procurement activities, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, and contributing to efficient, cost-effective purchasing operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, market awareness, negotiation abilities, and a commitment to transparency and accountability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement Planning & Coordination

Support the planning and execution of procurement activities in line with organizational policies and project requirements.

Prepare procurement schedules, delivery timelines, and sourcing strategies.

Conduct market research to identify reliable suppliers and assess pricing trends.
Sourcing & Vendor Management
-
Solicit and evaluate quotations, bids, and proposals from vendors.

Support vendor selection processes based on quality, cost, delivery, and compliance.

Maintain and update an approved vendor database.

Foster strong, ethical relationships with suppliers to ensure high service quality.
Compliance & Documentation
-
Ensure that all procurement activities comply with internal policies, donor guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

Prepare and maintain procurement documentation including purchase requests, bid evaluations, purchase orders, and contracts.

Maintain accurate records, logs, and audit-ready procurement files.
Logistics & Supply Chain Support

Monitor delivery of goods and services to ensure timely and satisfactory fulfillment.

Coordinate with internal teams to verify specifications, quality, and completeness of items delivered.

Assist in resolving issues related to delivery, quality discrepancies, or supplier performance.
Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

Provide regular updates on procurement status, supplier performance, and cost-saving initiatives.

Support communication between internal teams, vendors, and management.

Prepare procurement reports, summaries, and recommendations for decision-making.
Research & Donor Funding Analysis

Conduct research on national and international donor funding opportunities relevant to procurement activities.

Explore and track funding platforms such as UGM, Quantum, UN Agencies, World Bank, AfDB, and other donor portals.

Analyze donor procurement frameworks, eligibility criteria, and funding cycles to inform project planning.

Provide insights that support strategic positioning for grant opportunities and donor-funded procurement projects.

Maintain an updated database of active funding opportunities and sector-specific procurement requirements.

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a closely related field.
A Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is a strong advantage.

5–7 years of progressive, hands-on experience in procurement, supply chain, or logistics, including experience providing technical guidance or capacity-building to junior procurement staff.

Demonstrated ability to design, facilitate, and deliver training for procurement teams, including mentoring Procurement Specialists on best practices, compliance, and procurement systems.

Proven experience working within corporate, NGO, donor-funded, or government procurement frameworks, with solid understanding of donor procurement rules (e.g., World Bank, UN Agencies, AfDB, EU).

Extensive knowledge of procurement planning, strategic sourcing, tendering processes, bid evaluation, contract management, and vendor performance monitoring.

Strong familiarity with national procurement regulations, industry standards, and internationally accepted procurement methods.
