Job Description – Project Consultant

Our client, a non-profit organization who is focused on the promotion of education and empowerment of young people in Sierra Leone and beyond, is seeking a qualified, experienced and motivated project consultant who is eager to drive change and excel in a dynamic work environment.

As a Project Consultant, you will be responsible for evaluating and ensuring the effectiveness of project plans and processes for various clients, including individuals, businesses, and organizations. Your role will involve thoroughly analysing project documentation, identifying areas of potential risk or inefficiency, and making recommendations for enhancements. You will prepare comprehensive project reports, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and industry standards. Additionally, you will work closely with clients and internal teams to implement effective project strategies, providing valuable insights to support their project management and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Execution:
      • Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements and objectives.
      • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
      • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
      • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Financial and Operational Audits:
      • Perform detailed audits of project transactions and contracts to ensure accuracy, compliance, and cost-efficiency.
      • Evaluate financial operations and systems to ensure they are compliant with applicable laws and best practices.
      • Identify areas where cost reductions or financial improvements can be achieved.
  • Risk Assessment and Management:
      • Assess risk management processes related to project operations.
      • Develop recommendations to improve risk identification, management, and mitigation strategies.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
      • Ensure that project practices adhere to internal policies as well as external regulations and standards.
      • Monitor and verify the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting related to project activities.
  • Audit Reporting:
      • Prepare and present detailed audit reports that clearly state audit findings, implications, and recommendations.
      • Discuss audit findings with management and provide guidance on implementing recommended changes.
  • Process Improvement:
      • Recommend improvements to internal audit controls and processes to enhance operational efficiency.
      • Assist in the implementation of audit recommendations and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
      • Collaborate with various departments to ensure alignment and compliance with financial and project standards.
      • Act as a liaison between project teams and finance departments to ensure cohesive practices and understanding.
  • Marketing and Sales Expectations:
    • Contribute to the company’s marketing efforts and assist in achieving its sales goals.
    • Actively promote the company’s brand and participate in sales activities.
    • Assist with marketing campaigns, social media management, and other promotional initiatives.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management or consulting, with a strong background in auditing.
  • ACCA, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification preferred.

Skills Required:

  • Excellent understanding of financial reporting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • High proficiency in project management software and data analysis tools.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, necessary for engaging with clients and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism.
