JOB SUMMARY
SLONEC is seeking a competent and detail-oriented Associate Accountant to support the firm’s accounting and financial operations. The successful candidate will assist in managing client accounts, processing financial transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires strong analytical ability, accuracy, and commitment to deadlines, while providing support to the Senior Associate Accountant and the Head of Finance in maintaining financial integrity and operational excellence.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Financial Management
  • Support the processing of accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, payment processing, and reconciliations.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Verify expense claims and reconcile bank statements for assigned clients.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting regulations, company policies, and client-specific requirements.
  • Maintain updated records of NRA and NASSIT contributions and ensure proper documentation.
2. Financial Reporting and Analysis
  • Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, and cash flow reports.
  • Support variance analysis and provide relevant data for management decision-making.
  • Generate periodic financial reports for clients and internal review.
3. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards, tax regulations, and company financial policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit documentation and respond to auditor queries.
  • Stay informed on new financial regulations and contribute to implementing compliance measures.
4. Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Support in preparing and monitoring client and internal budgets.
  • Assist in tracking expenditures and analyzing budget variances.
  • Contribute to the preparation of cost estimates and pricing models for services.
5. Financial Systems and Process Improvement
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining accounting systems for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support process improvements to strengthen internal financial controls.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance understanding of accounting tools and procedures.
6. Administrative Support and Collaboration
  • Perform general administrative tasks including data entry, filing, and document management.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth workflow and communication.
  • Maintain accurate records of financial correspondence and assist with client inquiries.
7. Delegation and Oversight Support
  • Assist the Senior Associate Accountant in reviewing the work of junior accounting staff.
  • Participate in team-based projects and provide feedback for improving performance.
  • Take responsibility for assigned accounting tasks and report on progress regularly.
8. Collaboration and Communication
  • Work closely with audit, tax, and operations teams to ensure accuracy and consistency in financial reporting.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues to address accounting issues and queries.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all client and company interactions.
9. Health and Safety Compliance
  • Adhere to company health and safety policies in handling financial documents and office equipment.
  • Report potential hazards and participate in mandatory safety and compliance trainings.
10. Marketing and Sales Expectations
  • Contribute to SLONEC’s branding and marketing initiatives through participation in promotional campaigns.
  • Support the company’s sales objectives by assisting in proposal development and client engagement activities.
  • Represent SLONEC professionally in public forums, trainings, and client interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Progress toward a professional certification (ACCA, CPA, or ICASL) preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or auditing.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS).
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, accounting software, and ERP systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Integrity, confidentiality, and a strong sense of accountability.
