SLONEC successfully hosted its 1st Year Anniversary Business Seminar, marking an important milestone in the organisation’s journey of service, growth, and impact within Sierra Leone’s business and professional services landscape. The event brought together entrepreneurs, business leaders, professionals, policymakers, and financial institutions to celebrate SLONEC’s first year while engaging in meaningful discussions aimed at supporting sustainable business growth.
The seminar took place on Wednesday, 30 April 2025, at 5:00 PM, at the Empower Africa / FCC New Building, 10th Floor, 17 Wallace Johnson Street, Freetown. The event attracted a diverse audience and provided a valuable platform for learning, dialogue, and professional networking.
The anniversary seminar featured a distinguished lineup of industry experts and senior leaders from the finance, banking, taxation, consultancy, and business development sectors. These professionals shared practical insights, policy guidance, and real-world experiences to help strengthen financial management and business decision-making across Sierra Leone.
Among the keynote speakers was Dr. Walton E. Gilpin, Managing Director of Rokel Commercial Bank, who provided important perspectives on the financial sector and access to loan finance for small and medium-sized enterprises. Ishmael Bangura, Founder and CEO of SLONEC, reflected on the organisation’s journey, key achievements, and its strategic direction going forward. Participants also benefited from expert contributions by Matilda Zainab Kamara, Manager at the Domestic Tax Department of the National Revenue Authority, who addressed critical issues relating to tax compliance and regulatory obligations for businesses.
Additional insights were shared by Dr. Alpha Grace, Founder and CEO of CHANGEYOURSELF, Aruna Dumbuya, Head of Public Relations at Rokel Commercial Bank, and senior SLONEC professionals including Kaparr Conteh, Head of Sales and Marketing, Kadijatu I. Kamara, Consulting and Compliance Manager, and Thomas Greene, Assistant Finance Manager.
