SLONEC founded in Freetown, Sierra Leone

SLONEC Consultancy

There are moments when an organisation needs more than its day-to-day management: a new strategy cycle, a change of leadership, a merger, rapid growth, or a funder or regulator asking for stronger governance. At those moments an independent view, and practical help putting changes in place, can make the difference.

SLONEC Consultancy works alongside owners, boards and management teams in Sierra Leone. It also helps investors and companies coming into Sierra Leone to set up and invest. SLONEC was founded in Freetown on 4 April 2023 and works from 1 Hannah Benka-Coker Street.

Coming into Sierra Leone

For investors and companies that contract with us in Sierra Leone: We manage your permits and licences from start to finish. Depending on the permit and the country, our own team handles the application or we work through trusted local partners, and you have one point of contact throughout. Based in the UK, Europe, the US or beyond? You can contract with SLONEC Advisory Group instead and keep one point of contact outside Africa, with delivery in Sierra Leone by our Freetown team. • A review of where things stand, based on your documents and interviews

  • Plans with owners, dates and measures, not only a report
  • Support while the changes are made, if you want it
  • Links to accountancy, recruitment and training when the plan needs them

Consultancy for Sierra Leone, from people who work here

Organisations in Sierra Leone face a particular mix of pressures: funders and lenders asking for stronger governance and controls, new regulation, fast-changing technology, and competition for skilled staff. Advice that ignores those realities ends up in a drawer. We work from Freetown, with the businesses, NGOs, financial institutions and public bodies that deal with them every day.

Because SLONEC also runs accountancy, recruitment and training, our consultants can stay with you after the report. If a new structure needs new hires, our recruitment team can help fill the roles. If a new process needs training, our trainers can run it. If a strategy needs a budget, our accountants can build it.

Do you only work with large organisations?

No. We work with SMEs, family businesses, NGOs, financial institutions and public bodies. The scope and fee are set to the size of the job.

Can you work alongside our own team?

Yes. Most of our engagements are done with your managers, so that the knowledge stays in the organisation once we step back.

After a scoping call we send a written proposal with the scope, fee and timetable. Work starts only once you have agreed it.

Can you help us put the recommendations into practice?

Yes. We can stay with you while the changes are made, and bring in our accountancy, recruitment and training teams where the plan needs them.

I am investing from abroad. Where do I start?

With market entry for registration, bank accounts and permits, and investor support for licences, partners and due diligence.
