Community and corporate social responsibility in Sierra Leone

SLONEC is a Freetown business, and the communities around us matter to us. Here is the community work our team has been part of, and how to talk to us about yours.

Why community work matters to us

Our mission is to help transform the business landscape in Sierra Leone and beyond. That starts with people: young people with skills, organisations that can manage their money, and communities that can get the support they need.

We look for places where our skills are useful. That means school and community visits, supporting organisations that work with children and young people, and sharing what we know about training, finance and digital tools. We report what we have done publicly, and we do not claim work we have not done.

What we have done

Projects and partnerships we have reported publicly.

The Orphan Empowerment Society Sierra Leone (TOES)

In October 2024 we hosted TOES for partnership talks in support of vulnerable children and communities, including the World Orphans Day Humanitarian Goodwill Awards 2024.

6th Humanitarian Goodwill Awards

SLONEC representatives took part in the 2024 World Orphans Day awards and received certificates of recognition.

Community and school visits

Ishmael Bangura and the SLONEC team have made community visits in Sierra Leone, including to schools.

Training and skills

Our training team runs practical courses in digital skills, financial literacy and customer service, for organisations and individuals across Sierra Leone.

Working on something for the community?

If you run a school, a community organisation or a programme for young people and think we could help, tell us what you are doing and what you need. We read every request and reply honestly about what we can offer.
