Home / Privacy notice
How SLONEC collects, uses and protects personal information about website visitors, people who download our free guides and checklists, people who contact us or book a call, clients and job candidates. This notice covers SLONEC Group Africa and SLONEC Advisory Group.
SLONEC is one brand with two groups:
SLONEC Group Africa is responsible for (the “controller” of) the personal information collected through slonec.com and our forms, including enquiries for SLONEC Advisory Group. SLONEC Advisory Group Ltd is registered in England and Wales, company number 17524185. Registered office: Level 37, 1 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London E14 5AA.
In this notice, “we”, “us” and “SLONEC” mean SLONEC Group Africa and SLONEC Advisory Group.
Privacy questions: email hello@slonec.com with “Privacy” in the subject line. For SLONEC Advisory Group, you can also email legal@slonec.com.
We follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) for people in the United Kingdom, the EU GDPR where it applies, and the laws of Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone does not yet have a general data protection law in force (see section 11). We apply the standards in this notice to everyone, wherever they live.
What we collect when you sign up. Your first and last name, email address, organisation (optional), country (optional), sector, the guide or offer you asked for (for example The Finance Act 2026 Made Simple, the Compliance Checklist or the 2026 tax deadline calendar), the boxes you ticked, the exact wording you agreed to and the date and time. We also record how you found us: the campaign codes in the link you clicked (known as UTM codes, for example which ad or post it was), the page you signed up on and the page that referred you.
Double opt-in. After you sign up we send you one email asking you to confirm your email address. We send follow-up emails only after you confirm. If you do not confirm, we send one reminder after three days and then nothing more, and we delete your unconfirmed details after 30 days. Your guide is still available straight away on screen and in the email that delivers it, because you asked for it.
Follow-up emails. If you agree to them, we send a short series of emails about the guide or offer and how we can help: up to six emails over about four weeks. If you also tick the newsletter box, we send the SLONEC newsletter with tax and compliance updates, new free guides and events.
Why and on what basis.
Email tracking. Our emails record whether they are opened and which links are clicked, so we can send you relevant content, stop emails that are not wanted and measure our campaigns. If you click a link to book a call or ask for a quote, the right person in our team may follow up with you personally. If you would rather we did not track opens, you can turn off images in your email program; clicking links will still be recorded.
When you become a sales lead. If you book a discovery call, request a quote or reply to one of our emails, we add your details (name, email, phone if you give it, organisation, country, sector, the guide you downloaded, the campaign codes and your consent record) to our customer relationship management system (Capsule) and a member of our team follows up. Basis: steps you have asked us to take before a possible contract, and our legitimate interests in responding.
Enquiry and quote forms. When you use our contact, request-a-quote, SLONEC Advisory enquiry or employer hiring-request forms, we collect your name, email, phone or WhatsApp number, organisation, country, the service or route you are interested in and anything you write. Depending on the topic, your message goes to our new-business team (bdteam@slonec.com), general enquiries (hello@slonec.com), SLONEC Advisory Group (legal@slonec.com) or our Recruitment & Training team (recruit@slonec.com).
Booking a call. Our “Book a call” page uses Calendly. When you book, Calendly collects your name, email, the time you chose and any answers you give, and shares them with us.
Why and on what basis. To reply to you, hold the call and prepare a quote: steps you have asked us to take before a possible contract, or our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries. We send you marketing only if you separately agree to it.
To deliver accountancy, tax, consultancy, recruitment, training and advisory services we use the information needed for the work, which may include financial, payroll and tax records of your organisation and its staff.
What we collect. Your CV and the details you give us: name, contact details, location, job interests, work history, qualifications, and references or right-to-work documents if you progress.
How you send it. Through our secure Google Form, owned by our Recruitment & Training team (recruit@slonec.com), which asks you to sign in with a Google account, or by email to recruit@slonec.com. CVs are kept in a restricted Google Workspace shared drive (Google acts as our processor), never on this website. CVs that arrive by email are filed to that drive and the email is deleted within 7 days.
Why and on what basis. To match you with suitable roles and contact you about them: your consent, given when you register, and our legitimate interests in running a recruitment service. We will not share your CV or profile with an employer without your consent, and we never charge candidates.
Who sees it. Our Recruitment & Training team and, only after you have agreed for that vacancy, a named employer through a view-only folder that expires after 30 days.
What we collect. Technical information your browser sends (IP address, device and browser type, pages visited) to run and secure the website: our legitimate interests.
Cookies and similar technologies. Necessary cookies are always on. Analytics and marketing cookies are off until you choose to accept them in our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer. Basis for analytics and marketing cookies: your consent.
Marketing cookies (Meta Pixel; LinkedIn Insight Tag when we add it). If you accept marketing cookies, the Meta Pixel (and later the LinkedIn Insight Tag) tells Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and LinkedIn that a browser visited our pages, signed up or booked a call. We use this to measure our ads and to show our ads to people who have visited our site. Meta and LinkedIn may link this to your account with them and use it under their own privacy policies; for collecting and passing on this data, we and the platform are jointly responsible. We do not upload our contact lists to Meta or LinkedIn.
Full details are in Cookies we use below.
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with:

SLONEC works from Freetown and London, so your information may be handled in Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom. Some of our providers are based in, or store data in, the United States or the European Union.
When information about people in the UK or the EU is sent to a country that the UK or EU has not recognised as giving adequate protection (this includes Sierra Leone and, for providers that are not certified under the UK-US data bridge or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, the United States), we use the safeguards the law provides, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. We apply the same protections to information about people in Sierra Leone and elsewhere. You can ask us for more detail about these safeguards.
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Sign-ups not confirmed by email | Deleted after 30 days |

| After you unsubscribe | Your email address only, on a “do not email” list, so we never email you again by mistake |
| Records of consent (wording, date and time) | For as long as we email you, plus 2 years |
| Sign-up form entries stored on our website | 90 days, because the details are held in Transpond |

| Website visitor audiences in our Meta and LinkedIn ad accounts | We set them to no longer than 180 days |
Sierra Leone does not yet have a general data protection law or a data protection authority. In April 2026 the Government approved a National Data Protection Policy and authorised a new Data Protection and Right to Access Information Act. At the time we last updated this notice, that law had not been passed by Parliament. Until it comes into force, we give everyone in Sierra Leone the same rights and protections described in this notice, and you can raise any concern with us at hello@slonec.com. When the new law and its authority are in place, we will update this notice, including how to complain to that authority.
Last updated: 11 October 2026. We will post any changes on this page. If a change significantly affects how we use information you have given us, we will tell you by email where we can.
Cookies are small files a website saves on your device. We also use similar technologies (pixels and tags) that work in the same way. We use three categories. Only Necessary cookies are on by default. Analytics and Marketing stay off until you accept them, and you can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings in the footer.
| Category | Cookie / service | What it does | Who sets it | How long | When it loads |

| Marketing | LinkedIn Insight Tag (not yet installed): for example li_fat_id, bcookie, lidc, UserMatchHistory | Measures which LinkedIn ads lead to sign-ups and bookings, and lets us show our ads to people who visited our site | From 24 hours (lidc) to 1 year (bcookie); li_fat_id and UserMatchHistory 30 days | Only after you accept Marketing, once we add it | |
| Embedded services | Calendly (booking calendar), Google Maps, YouTube | Show the booking calendar, maps and videos; the provider may set its own cookies | Calendly, Google | Set by each provider | Only when you click to load them |
We check this list whenever we add a new service to the website. Cookie names and lifetimes are set by each provider and can change; the list was last checked on 11 October 2026.
How to change your choice: click Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings. Turning marketing cookies off does not stop you seeing ads; it means the ads are not based on your visit to our site.
