Where time and money leak away

Slow approvals, manual spreadsheets, duplicated work and weak controls cost organisations time and money, and they increase the risk of errors and fraud. Fixing them does not always mean buying new software. Often the first step is to map how work really gets done and simplify it.

What we do

  • Map key processes such as purchasing, payments, payroll, sales and reporting.
  • Find bottlenecks, duplication and control gaps.
  • Redesign processes and set out clear responsibilities.
  • Strengthen internal controls over cash, approvals and records.
  • Help you choose and set up accounting or management systems.
  • Train staff on the new processes and systems.

Who it's for

  • SMEs moving from spreadsheets to proper systems, NGOs tightening controls for funders, financial institutions improving operations, and any organisation that feels it is working harder than it needs to.

What you receive

  • Maps of your key processes as they work today
  • A list of bottlenecks, duplication and control gaps, ranked by risk and cost
  • Redesigned processes with clear responsibilities
  • Stronger controls over cash, approvals and records
  • Help choosing and setting up accounting or management systems
  • Staff training on the new processes and systems

Controls and systems that fit how you work

Many organisations in Sierra Leone still run important processes on paper, spreadsheets and messages. Payments are approved by whoever is available, cash is handled by one person, and records are spread across several places. That slows everyone down and increases the risk of errors and fraud, which funders, auditors and lenders notice.

We start by mapping how work really gets done, then simplify it and add the controls that matter most. Where software will help, we help you choose something that fits your size and budget, and our training team makes sure staff can use it. SLONEC received the Civic Champion Award 2024 in the Digitise Sierra Leone category.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need new software?

Not always. Often the first gains come from simplifying the process and clarifying who does what. Where a system is needed, we help you choose one that fits.

Which processes should we look at first?

Usually the ones that handle money or cause the most delay: purchasing, payments, payroll, sales and reporting. We agree the priorities with you on the scoping call.

Can you help with internal controls for an audit?

Yes. We review controls over cash, approvals and records and help you fix the gaps auditors or funders have raised.

Will you train our staff?

Yes. Our training team trains staff on new processes and systems, so the changes are used.

Can you help us move from spreadsheets to an accounting system?

Yes. We help you choose an accounting package, set it up, move your opening balances and train the people who will use it.
