We follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 for people in the United Kingdom, the EU GDPR where it applies, and the laws of Sierra Leone on privacy and data protection.
What we collect. Technical information your browser sends (IP address, device and browser type, pages visited), and, only if you accept analytics cookies, usage statistics through Google Analytics 4.
Why and on what basis. To run and secure the website (legitimate interests); to understand how the site is used and improve it (your consent, which you give or refuse in the cookie banner).
Cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are always on. Analytics (GA4) and embedded services (Calendly booking calendar, Google Maps, YouTube) load only after you agree. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer. Full list: Cookies we use.
Newsletter and Compliance Checklist. If you sign up we keep your email address and first name to send you updates. We use double opt-in and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Basis: your consent.
What we collect. Your name, email, phone, organisation, country, the service you are interested in and anything you tell us in a form, email, call or discovery call. For clients, also the information needed to deliver the work, which may include financial, payroll and tax records of your organisation and its staff.
Why and on what basis.
Where it is kept. In our email system, our CRM (Capsule) and our accounting and document systems, provided by Google Workspace, Capsule, Calendly, Transpond and our website host.
How long. Enquiries that do not become work are deleted once they are no longer needed to answer or follow up your enquiry. Client records are kept for as long as tax, accounting and company law requires, and then deleted.
What we collect. Your CV and the details you give us: name, contact details, location, job interests, work history, qualifications, and references or right-to-work documents if you progress.
Why and on what basis. To match you with suitable roles and contact you about them (your consent, given when you register, and our legitimate interests in running a recruitment service). We will not share your CV or profile with an employer without your consent. We never charge candidates.
Who sees it. Our recruitment team, and a named employer only after you have agreed, for that vacancy, through a view-only folder that expires after 30 days. CVs are uploaded through a Google Form or sent by email and kept in a restricted Google Workspace shared drive (Google acts as our processor), never on this website.
How long. We keep your CV while we may be able to put you forward for suitable roles, and delete it when it is no longer needed. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
Service providers who process data for us under contract (hosting, email, CRM, booking, newsletter), professional advisers, authorities where the law requires (for example the National Revenue Authority), and, for candidates, employers as described above. We do not sell personal information.
SLONEC is based in Sierra Leone and some of our providers are in the United States or elsewhere. When information about people in the UK or EU leaves those areas, we rely on adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, to restrict or object to how we use it, to move it to another provider, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@slonec.com with “Privacy” in the subject line. We reply within one month.
If you are in the UK you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). If you are not happy with our answer, write to us again and we will look at it afresh.
