How SLONEC Consultancy helps

Investing with a local team behind you

Sierra Leone offers real opportunities in mining, agriculture, energy, hospitality and infrastructure. Turning an opportunity into a working investment means dealing with licences, government agencies, local partners and a lot of documents. SLONEC Consultancy provides a local team that understands those steps and handles them with you. This service is for investors who contract with SLONEC in Sierra Leone.

Gold and diamond mining licence applications

We guide applicants through the regulatory steps for gold and diamond mining licences, with first-time applicants and with miners expanding existing operations. We manage your permits and licences from start to finish. Depending on the permit and the country, our own team handles the application or we work through trusted local partners, and you have one point of contact throughout.

Gold and diamond export applications

Exporting minerals requires the right certification and documents through the proper government channels. We help you put together export applications so your exports are properly documented, managed in the same way as your other permits and licences.

Partners, due diligence and deals

Before you commit money, you need to know who you are dealing with. We help with introductions to potential local partners and with financial and tax due diligence on businesses you plan to invest in, working with our mergers and acquisitions team.

Most investments need a local company, a corporate bank account and permits for investors and expatriate staff. Our market entry service handles these.

Investing in Sierra Leone: who you will deal with

Depending on the sector, an investment in Sierra Leone can involve several public bodies. The Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA) promotes investment and supports investors. The National Minerals Agency (NMA) deals with mineral rights and the export of gold and diamonds. Companies register with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), tax registration is with the National Revenue Authority (NRA), and work permits for expatriate staff come through the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.

Each body has its own forms, fees and timelines, and the order matters. We map the steps for your investment, prepare the documents, follow up with the agencies and keep you informed, with one point of contact in Freetown. Our team took part in Sierra Leone Mining Week and Exhibition 2025, and mining licence and export applications are part of the support we offer.

Based in the UK, Europe, the US or beyond? You can contract with SLONEC Advisory Group instead and keep one point of contact outside Africa, with delivery in Sierra Leone by our Freetown team. See Route into Africa
