Why digital skills matter

More and more work, services and payments in Sierra Leone happen online. Staff who are confident with digital tools work faster and make fewer mistakes, and organisations that train their people get more from the systems they pay for. SLONEC won the Civic Champion Award 2024 in the Digitise Sierra Leone category.

What we offer

  • Basic digital literacy: using a computer and smartphone, the internet, email and safe online habits, for first-time users.
  • Digital skills for business: office software, online collaboration, managing data and selling online.
  • Institutional programmes: training for government bodies and NGOs moving their services and operations online.
  • Train-the-trainer: building your own team’s ability to train others.
  • Community digital inclusion: programmes for women, young people, persons with disabilities and rural communities.
  • Monitoring and reporting: tracking learner progress and reporting results to funders and stakeholders.

Who it's for

  • Businesses, government ministries and agencies, councils, NGOs and development partners who want to build digital skills among staff or the communities they serve.

Digital skills in Sierra Leone

Government services, banking, payments and everyday work in Sierra Leone are moving online, but many people are still new to computers, email and online tools. For organisations, the gap shows up as systems that are paid for but not used well, slow work and avoidable mistakes. For communities, it means missing out on services and opportunities.

We run programmes from basic digital literacy through to digital tools for business, for staff and for the communities organisations serve, including women, young people, persons with disabilities and rural communities. SLONEC received the Civic Champion Award 2024 in the Digitise Sierra Leone category, organised by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education.
